Season

Sole Discretion Dance Company is a youth based competitive dance team consisting of dancers from the ages of eleven to eighteen.

The company has a very busy season as they participate in two conventions and five competitions throughout the months of October to March.  Every April West University Dance Centre hosts a studio wide audition weekend. 

Kelly Ann Vitacca is Sole Discretion’s Artistic Director  and flies in from Chicago to choreograph solos and group pieces for the company.  Loni Peterson is Sole Discretion’s Executive Director and she runs all rehearsals, takes the dancers to competitions, and handles all the administrative business for the company.

Being a member of Sole Discretion is a fun and memorable experience.  Even though most of the dancers do not attend the same schools they still form close friendships that will last a lifetime.

June 2010

Sole Discretion had an amazing 2009-2010 season.  The company attended three conventions, Tremaine, JUMP, and new this year was NYCDA.  At JUMP several dancers were awarded MVP scholarships and had the opportunity to perform with the amazing staff and demonstrators that weekend.  In addition to these conventions, Sole Discretion attended a total of six competitions.  The dancers took home several Platinum awards, as well as two cash prizes for choreography.

New this year was the Sole Discretion Prep class.  This class is taught by Rehearsal Director, Melanie Kendall, and is structured like a Convention class.  The dancers learned a lot of new choreography each week and were taught audition skills.  

After a very successful year Sole Discretion held their auditions at West University Dance Centre in May of 2009.  There was a large turnout, which included many of the Sole Discretion Prep Class members.  We are hoping to grow our company membership for the 2010-2011 season and all the directors are looking forward to another great year!

Received a scholarship to the Joffrey Contemporary & Jazz Dance Summer Intensive in New York.

Alison Maillard and Anna Glickman
Received scholarships to attend the L.A. Conference.

Sarah Rohrman and Kristen Santiago
Performed in the Sunday Staff Show with other VIP Performers at the Jump Convention
They also were awarded scholarships to next year's Jump Convention and cash vouchers for the LA convention.
